| My husband and I were first time home buyers, full of questions, and very uncertain. | In 2002, after selling our small three-bedroom home in South Austin, my wife and I sought to purchase a new, larger four-bedroom home in roughly the same area. My wife was 7 ¿ months pregnant at the time and we needed to get our family moved in to a new home before the new baby arrived. After being quite displeased with the realtors we had used to sell our home, we decided to look for a new realtor to represent us in purchasing our new home. A long time colleague of mine, who had nothing but fantastic things to say about her, recommended Ruth to us. Beyond his excellent personal reference, he emphasized that one of the greatest assets of working with her was her extensive experience in working in home mortgages. The process of buying and financing a home is, to say the least, a daunting, confusing and often frustrating ordeal. And having someone, besides the mortgage company, who was thoroughly knowledgeable in the buying process, turned out to be an invaluable commodity. We spent the next month on this project looking at close to fifty properties in just that short time. We were out looking almost every day, and when my wife and I weren¿t able to be out looking, Ruth was out looking for us. Having a family of her own, Ruth was very understanding and sensitive to our situation, and made every possible effort to accommodate our schedule. This was all taking place back when the housing market still very strong, and before the days of it being a buyers market. We made offers on at least six homes, but we kept finding that a home in the location we wanted, were all-just out of our price range. At one point we became discouraged with the prospects of finding a house meeting our standards in the area for a price we could afford. Ruth never tired of showing us properties, often returning to properties several times, that we had visited and finding further answers to our questions on any property. She provided us with valuable advice and counsel. She was diligent with respect to comparables market conditions in the area, and the drawbacks and advantages of each property. Just when we began to think that finding the home we wanted was not going to be a possibility, Ruth came through for us and found the ideal home in the perfect neighborhood. Encouraged that we had finally found our home, in the back of our minds, we knew that the hard part was still ahead of us. Surprisingly, it turned out that it was all down hill from there. Way beyond helping us find and submit a contract on our home, she was able to advise us on almost every other aspect of buying our home; from the financing, to the miles of paperwork, and most importantly to explain, in terms we could understand, what all it was that we were signing and paying for. She took all of the confusion out of the buying process and left us feeling confident, and reassured, every step of the way. How often can you say that about dealing with a mortgage company? We have worked with several realtors and realty agencies in the past, and without a doubt, Ruth has been the best real estate agent that we have ever had the opportunity to work with. Her knowledge and attention to detail made buying our home a painless and enjoyable process.
